From a "Box-that-accomplishes-all-the-outboard-shit-I-need" standpoint, this essentially does it all for the best price. They are $130 bucks and from what I can tell, reasonably 'loaded with techno' for that scratch. I'd post the question to the folks @ Analog Industries but those people think Line 6 gear sounds like an open can of ass, not to mention they find no need to spend anything less than 1k on gear. For my purposes (which are, commit things to record so I have something to do in a very portable way) this seems fairly reasonable.
Since I don't have a shitload of room and since I'm not working with a band, this route makes sense to me. But since I know some of you (Shino, Chuck, Gabe, Sam...I got my eyes on you here) may have opinions/insights that assume one doesn't have a six figure studio budget, I ask...am I wasting my time with this box or will it git r done till I convince Shino to record all my shit for real?

I never heard of it. You record on it or what? I still use cassette, man.

Oh man I _WISH_ I were able to still use cassette or an old tascam machine. Man those were the days.
Naw this is just a USB interface for your gear. So you use it to get your shite into the computer and then use software from there. For all practical purposes, I'd just be using this to drop guitar, bass and vox into some DAW and importing drums/percussion/synths out of reason, fruityloops, etc etc

Dave,
I've been looking at getting something like this myself. Honestly what I use right now is pretty funny. I go from my mixer into the micorphone input on the computer with Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and I record left and right individually and then edit from there. It's time consuming as all hell and I would really like to be able to record in stereo from the get go, but I got a kid and even $130 bucks right now is out of my price range. So yeah, in my opinion I would save give it a shot. You're smart enough to figure out how to make it work great, and besides if you're only using it for guitar, bass and vocals you don't have a whole hell of a lot to worry about.

That sure looks like a lot of ghey for $130
I like the little neve 1073 knobs on the computer display. I'm sure that those knobs sound way better than other cheap digital knobs.
And Line6 gear does suck donkey balls.
I did a bunch of recording last year with an M-audio box into audacity that wasn't horrible. Granted I used my own pre's and compressors before the box but the interface worked well.

Get it. Then once you have a couple songs you *really* believe in then pay some money and get them recorded for real.
Colour and textures do matter. And this will probably sound flat when compared to the real deal. However, it is awesome for just getting ideas down and distributing stuff on the internet.

Yeah I'm thinking the answer here is to nut up and buy the thing. Sam is probably right, it is a lot of ghey for $130, but if it accomplishes what I need (which is basically, put guitar into a format that I can mix drums with it) I can stamp out said ghey by "recording it for real" (per Schmudde's notion).
It bears mentioning that I'm well aware of how the forums at Prosoundweb and Analog Industries would mock my idea. Those people spend their days twittling knobs and jacking off to gear that most definitely doesn't get chicks. I spend my days optimizing websites with loads of hot chicks around and riding one of three bikes that most definitely gets the chicks. Then when I'm not doing one of the two, I wanna put one of the three guitars and stacks of amps in my already-too-crowded-apartment to use. In short, the "pro's" opinion on this matter is of little relevance to my needs (although I'm sure they'd like to think otherwise)
