Nerds Rejoice

So they finally are making the one book in this series that made an iota of sense to me into a movie.

This barely warrants an entry other than the fact I've been building knowledge docs all morning and need a break. The fact is I never drank the Lord of the Rings kool-aid and probably never will. I can make it through a grand total of about 20 minutes of any of these movies without being fast asleep. They are basically guaranteed 2 hour naps for me. I'm sure its me and not the movie. But hey, I don't think guys like me were the ones who gave Hollywood the impression midgets with hairy feet wandering around talking about sorcery and shit would translate to box office gold.

That said...I never did understand why the Hobbit was considered a prequel and just like, part of the friggin' story.

A D&D Dork:

It's kinda part of the story, and it is a prequel. It has 3 of the same main characters; Gandalf, Bilbo, and Gollumn. Plus, it's a story of Bilbo getting the ring from Gollumn, so it sort of leads into the whole Lord of the Rings thing.

I'm way to much of a nerd, cause I totally want to explain how it fits into the entire Ring universe, but I'll refrain.

You see the biggest reason this is a giant part of my life? My mom totally read me the books when I was a kid and then when I was old enough to read I totaly read them myself.

Another confession, I played D&D.

And lastly, I'm a huge nerd, but I guess you figured that out for yourself.

Dave McAnally:

I'M SURROUNDED BY NEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRDS!!!!!

In all fairness, I'm told by persons who know such things that watching any of the LOTR movies with a quality 5 or 7.1 surround system is t3h Awesome. Like I said though, something in my brain makes me fall asleep 20 minutes in no matter what system.

I actually read all the books in junior high as well. So I'm not pulling any punches there.

But I didn't play D&D...so I'm not even close to the nerdom Gabe is ;-)
