Okay, as any regular follower of this blog knows...one of my obscure interests includes vintage McDonald's commercials. With that in mind...I think that new 5 dollar foot long commercial from Subway more or less steals the melody from the 70's McDonaldland song.
Now, thanks to Youtube (not that any of this comes remotely close to the previous entry)...you be the judge:
Compared to
SRSLY folks...is that not the same fucking melody? I don't have perfect pitch but from what I do have (which is a few beers in me thanks to the meetup of search folks in the city (tm) tonight), I call 'em one in the same!

Nah, I'm not hearing it man... the chord progressions and instrumentation are similar and both have that upward-bending note at the end of a phrase but that's about where the similarity ends. If that's stealing, then not only should John Fogerty have lost that case where he was sued for ripping off his own songs, but so should just about every bluesman who ever lived.

Well, I definitely hear it in the music; however, I think the Vintage McDonalds Commercials are quite trippy! I never realized it before and if this is about which one would win in a competition, well, McDonalds takes the lead HANDS DOWN!
Not to get off the subject too far, but have you seen the movie "Horton Hears a Who" yet? Now that's some trippy stuff!

Well it certainly rips off that whole psychedelic vibe from the 60's.
That said, I've had a few people tell me if you slow this song down, it basically IS the 5 dollar footlong song
