Another 4th of July holiday weekend in the can. We celebrate by drinking, grilling and blowing lots of shit up. I managed to inject a little bit of cycling in there as well. Jesus the summer is flying by.
Friday night we hung out on my roofdeck and caught fireworks going off in all the neighborhoods. Even though I've lived in this building for 3 years now, I've never stayed on the roof to watch the 4th of July spectacle. It's really pretty amazing to see from the 28th floor looking over the west loop. There are literally hundreds of fireworks shows going on over the west end of the city as all the neighborhoods have their own fireworks shows. So it's not like there's just ONE set of them going off. It's easily one of the coolest visuals I've seen while living in Chicago.
Went out for a bit of a cycle with Roly mainly to see if the trailer/stereo is going to work. And it does. Loudly. Pedaled it down to Ian's and it's essentially ready to go for Ragbrai. sorry no pics yet.
Other than that, I have some minor things to hash out work-wise early on this week and then Thursday Roly and I crate our bikes and hop in a plane bound for Alaska. Everything seems in order for that particular voyage. Never a dull moment.
