The long overdue update

It's been way too long since I've properly updated what's been going on around here. Needless to say the holidays coupled with various holiday shit have kept me pretty busy. Things are going well around here...I ate/drank way too fucking much over the holidays and have a good 12lbs to drop before I even feel remotely good about the tri season.

I am currently in Disneyworld (here to be specific) firmly ensconsed in my relatively nice room all things considered. I'm here to do the marathon on Sunday. I'm woefully underprepared in the way of miles so there won't be any personal records coming out of this weekend, but I do miss the spirit/massiveness of a larger marathon. So even if I finish with the old ladies, I'll have fun.

that said, getting here has been an absolute clusterfuck. I got delayed at Charlotte, so things were already off to a bad start in that regard. When you stay at Disneyworld, one of the things they provide is a "Magical Shuttle" (which is a bus). Said buses do not leave the airport until they are completely full (as near as I can tell). I sat in this fucking thing for 2.5 hours until they saw fit to vacate the goddamn airport. In retrospect, a 70 dollar cab ride and the ability to order a bottle of wine (apparently the Magic Kingdom has a problem with selling alcohol after 11:30) would have been sooooooo worth it. As it stands I'm starving and watching countdown with Keith Olbermann. Speaking of TV...it is brutally apparent you are well within the bounds of the bible belt by the late night television. Jesus more or less seems to have cornered the market on programming after midnight around these parts. It's all the superpower mega churches too, where the production for a service is on par of a Metallica show that features a preacher doling out one pious cliche after another to a mass of people holding their hands in the air thinking this is spectacle is somehow relevant to their lives. ...changes channel...

Tomorrow I plan on going to the expo, picking up my race bag, going for a 6 mile run or so and generally just hanging out. I have an uncle in the area I was going to try to connect with, but no avail so far.

Something that pisses me off

Everytime some far right wing nut (in this case, that blonde on The View) says something to the effect that "if it weren't for the soldiers we wouldn't be able to do what we do", the far left activists who happen to be in the same room/tv-show laugh at them.

Yeah, it's corny and dumb whoever plays that card plays it. But godammit it's kinda true ya know? It's not like a right wing "Jesus is ya lawd and savya!" kinda card. It's like..if these fuckers didn't do what they do, Americans wouldn't be speaking English about now. Don't get me wrong, I'll laugh all the way down about the stupidity of the religious right, but that right actually is sort of correct on the troops. So lay of the smug you leftist fucks
